The industry's leading innovator in electric locks and custom designed solenoid application solutions is to unveil a series of exciting new products at IFSEC 2009. In addition to its vast range of standard solenoid products, Magnet Schultz Ltd will show a range of IP68 metal-faced box magnets ideal for marine and submersible environments, a weatherproof shot bolt featuring IP65 compliant seals, a long-stroke gate lock aimed specifically at the security industry, a heavy duty miniature shot bolt for deployment in safes or cash handling machines, and a range of very heavy duty holding magnets for industrial applications.

The company will be displaying a range of unique products at the IFSEC exhibition on Stand B45 in Hall 3A at Birmingham 's NEC complex from 11 th to 14 th May.
Submersible Heavy Duty IP68 Box Magnets
At this year's IFSEC event, Magnet Schultz will unveil a range of new ruggedized IP68 box magnets deploying unique metal-faced magnets in two variants: energise-to-hold and energise-to-release - the latter using powerful permanent magnets. The products are resin encapsulated inside powder coated aluminium housings, feature integrated terminations and a flying lead gland, and are expressly designed for easy mounting. With their IP68 rating, the units are immersible to sea bed depths, making them more than simply weatherproof: they are ideal for a host of outdoor, marine and submersible applications.
These new metal-faced magnet products originate from a bespoke design by Magnet Schultz developed for hull walking equipment deployed in robots for cleaning the hulls of ships. The energise-to-release variant draws no current to hold, making it both environmentally friendly and immediately suited to a variety of applications including fire safety. One initial application is in fire damping equipment onboard luxury performance yachts.
Weatherproof Shot Bolt
Based on a proven Magnet Schultz design, the new weatherproof Type 63 inline shot bolt range comprises integrated seals to deliver IP65 rated performance, extruded aluminium chassis, 15mm diameter stainless steel bolt, and a manual override for power failures using a triangular Euro key - making it ideal for safety applications. The new unit can optionally be fitted with either a force contact switch or a simple snap-action switch. The former is the optimum choice for safety applications, for instance in lifts, where signal certainty and integrity from the switch is imperative.
The unit is an enhanced variant of Magnet Schultz's current Type 63 inline shot bolt but now features a raised classification status with its IP65 compliant seals and improved internals.
Long Stroke Gate Lock
Long stoke applications are not typically the preserve of solenoid actuation. However, Magnet Schultz has developed an innovative new solution to the increasing demand for fast, simple yet effective gate-lock-style products for the security sector. The new unit deploys a 15mm stainless steel bolt with a 40mm throw, and is available in variants rated to IP54 or IP65. It features innovative internal mechanisms developed by Magnet Schultz Ltd to generate a decisive long stoke actuation from a short stroke solenoid.
Miniature Shot Bolts
Also on show at the IFSEC event is Magnet Schultz's new range of GHUZ miniature high integrity shot bolts designed for high security applications such as safe locking and cash handling machines. The units feature heavy duty dead bolts that offer high resistance to tampering.
Industrial Holding Magnets
Magnet Schultz also produces a range of large and powerful holding magnets featuring 65mm or 80mm diameter magnets on a mountable bracket and suited to a variety of heavy duty industrial applications requiring a high Kilogram holding force.
